Dapitan City - Day 1: Getting to Dapitan City and Travelbee Heritage Inn

Day 1 - Nov 20, 2015

It was an APEC week. Most of the domestic and international flights by Airline Carriers were cancelled for three consecutive days to make way to the Delegate's arrival, utilizing the NAIA International Airport. Good thing, our flight wasn't on the list of the cancelled flights posted on CebuPacific's websites. But that didn't ease my worries. I still had to check their website up to the last minute before we left the house to make sure. Nobody wants to be stuck in the airport, anyway. Also, we had to leave early to avoid road closures in EDSA and near NAIA roads, which is also APEC related.

Expected departure 1:15PM.
Expected Arrival 2:10 PM.

Boarding was delayed for an hour due to an APEC related activity. That's understandable. It was our kid's second time to ride on a plane and he was so excited. He also loved that he was sitting beside the window. My 5 year old niece, on the other hand, felt a little jealous because she sat at the middle. I remember she said "I don't have a window!". Awwww, it broke my heart. Sadly, these were assigned seats. But I promised her on the way back, it'd be her turn to sit beside the window.

Take off also got delayed due to queue congestion. We arrived 2 hours later than the expected arrival.

Dipolog Airport is pretty small airport. While my husband waited for our checked in baggage, I went over to this group of people holding out names of their guests. Ours weren't there, so I went outside to the parking lot not far away from the exit and there I spotted an L300/Jeepney type van with a bee logo in its body. I approached the van and in an instant everybody knew it was us they were waiting for.

It was a breezy drive for around 30 minutes from Dipolog to Dapitan City. We enjoyed the view and the fresh air as we passed by.

We arrived at Travel Bee Inn 30 minutes later. The moment I saw the Inn, it looks pretty outside with its colorful flowers that are mostly Bougainvillea. The rest of day was spent in our room and at the balcony. We also had our dinner at the Inn's restaurant.

Travel Bee Inn

No wonder this is #1 Best BB/Inns in Dapitan City by TripAdvisor as of this writing.

Reservation can be done hassle free. Good thing they have a website, http://www.travelbee.ph/. Other than Dapitan, they also have Inns located in Cebu. I requested for a room type and then waited for their response via email. They didn't require an advance deposit, which is also great.

The facade, with colorful flowers, is comforting already.

A home away from home feel.
this quaint abode sits in a clean and quiet neighborhood
found at the parking lot -- bikes for rent and kalesa chair. Beside the Kalesa chair is the entrance/door
restaurant upon entering the main door. there is a free wifi but is only accessible within this area. Coffee is available with a fee. You need to prepare it yourself and if there is no one around while you prepare, just be honest and pay the staff later on.
my kids enjoyed playing in this area. books are also available for reading.
no idle time. chess and piano are also available. husband and kid tinkered with it the piano.
free breakfast. Two loaf of toasted bread and a cup of coffee. Silog foods are available in the restaurant for around 150-180 pesos.
terrace/balcony located at the second floor
interesting table
Dapitan painting at the second floor's wall with famous landmarks. (From the left ) Dapitan City Capitol, Travelbee Inn, Gloria de Dapitan, St. James Parish Church, Relief Map of Mindanao, Rizal's Landing Site, Rizal Shrine.
One of our rooms (Standard Hive) located at the second floor.
our second room (Standard Hive) also located at the second floor
open closet in our room

The room is small but clean. Pillows, blankets, comforter were okay. Toilet and bath is small but clean. In the other room, though, a pipe was not attached to the shower head. Had to call the staff and was fixed right away. Air conditing is just right. The TV though is located too high.

Overall, we had a comfortable stay here for two nights. It felt like home. Across the Inn is a bakery and somewhere near are sari sari stores.

Would I stay here again given a chance?.... Yes!
