IloIlo City: Getting to Iloilo City and Miag-ao Church

From Manila, we arrived in IloIlo International Airport quarter to 1 in the afternoon. After meeting our friend who arrived in Iloilo earlier than us, we kinda got lost on what to do next...

There was a little brainstorming going on while at the airport. We have yet to decide how we can leave the airport and reach the town. Second, where to stay. Third, where to eat.

These people from the airport offering cab transfer to town for P350 keeps on following us can really be irritating. Our budget mode was high that time so we nicely declined their offer. At the side, near the departure area, there is a multicab waiting bound for Sta. Barbara terminal.

The multicab was empty and it doesn't look like it's going to fill up soon. The multicab We agreed, after too much persuasion from the driver, to pay the entire trip for P150. While we're travelling, driver picked up 2 passengers. Driver said those are security guards from the airport. Fine, i thought... Then another one. I thoughts it's just gonna be us, I asked the driver. The driver said we'll just pay P130. Good answer!!

I was surprised to know that it only takes 5 minutes or less to reach Sta. Barbara. From there, we rode another multicab going to SM IloIlo City.

We ate at Green Mango. Their Pancit Canton is considered as the number one pansit canton in the country!!

Our goal was to stay in a pension, inn or somewhere cheaper since we only need a night and the next morning, we'd be out very early. We did not book an accommodation in advance as we thought it was easy finding for one once we're in Iloilo. Well, it didn't turn out to be that way and that's a lesson for us.

After getting tired of so much walking, we decided to check in the first hotel we saw Ilo-Ilo Midtown Hotel.

Miag-Ao Church

I planned to visit the churches in Iloilo but because we were left with a very short time, we decided to visit Miag-ao church. Among all the churches in Iloilo, why Miag-ao church?

"The Miag-ao Church was built in 1786 by Spanish Augustinian missionaries and was declared as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Baroque Churches of the Philippines" in 1993. On the front facade, which is flanked by two watchtower belfries, one can see the unique blending of Spanish and native influences." -Wikipedia.

From Supermarket in Iloilo, we hopped in a multicab with Miag-ao signboard and travelled for an hour. We arrived in Miag-ao church at 5:30pm, stayed for 30 minutes then left. We went straight to SmallVille where we dine in Ocean City Bistro and sipped few alcohol at Padi's Point.

I realized, Iloilo town is like Manila. The crowd, the street are pretty much the same. And the accent.. gosh.. the accent isn't new to me but it different hearing the Ilonggo accent when I'm in the ACTUAL place. It's like  goosebumps in a good way...
