Pampanga Foodtrip
Hailed as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, I can't think of any other reason more enticing enough to drag ourselves to Pampanga.
Finding these talked about restaurants are just so easy. Thanks to some blogs for their recommendations and Waze for directions. Lol
Now, this is not a one day tour. This is a compilation of the restaurants we've been to every time we were in Pampanga.
Aling Lucy Sisig.
Coming from Bulacan, we always take the fastest route, the NLEX. We followed where Waze directed us and after some series of stops and turns, we finally made it to Aling Lucing's.
I was surprised to see a carinderia for a name as famous as this. Some local celebrities and politicians came to taste their famous sisig and their faces are seen on a compiled photos posted on the wall near the entrance. Just like the usual carinderia, common viands such as menudo, adobo, afritada, nilaga etc are for sale. They have non airconditioned place at the side with tables and chairs for those who would like to dine in.
I bought pork sisig but decided to eat it in Camalig.
I tell you, their sisig is fantastic! I've tasted a variety but this is the first time I've eaten a lechon style sisig. And it is the Best!!!!!
Camalig Restaurant.
This place was once a kamalig, rice storage house, where its name was derived. It was then converted into a pizza parlor in 1940, making it the first in the Philippines.
Upon entering the area, there is a small stage at the right side where live bands play every night. To the left is the restaurant.
We got inside the restaurant and it was dark. Well, it's dim. This place looks like a museum because of the antiques displayed every where. There is an airconditioned function room at the second floor for I think 100 guests.
The place is so interesting. And their pizza too! We tried their best seller Armando's pizza that's loaded with cheese, sausage, pepperoni and mushroom. It was simply delicious! I enjoyed eating it on their pizza shaped plate.
Everybody's Cafe.
We went here December 24, 2014 on a rainy day. We were bound to celebrate christmas eve in Clark and so I took the opportunity to visit this place.
From the outside, the restaurant looks like an old house of a rich family back in the old days. Once inside, rows of food are displayed. On the walls are carefully framed copies of magazines this restaurant was featured from.
We asked for their best sellers and was suggested Morcon and Arobong Camaru which is also known as adobong cricket. We also ordered fresh lumpia and Kilain which is their Igado version.

Their food are delicious especially the morcon! I didn't gross out in adobong cricket. Surprisingly, I enjoyed its crispiness.
The food are a bit pricey. Good thing for other viands they offer half order for half the price.
There are also function rooms at the back of the restaurant so need not to worry for those who will be bringing their entire barangay. 😃
Susie's Cuisine
There are tons of branches to visit from. One of which is located in San Fernando along McArthur highway. This store is packed of pasalubongs like varieties of nuts, pulburon, corn, pastillas, cakes, brownies, chicharon, pasta, kakanin and a whole lot more.
I tried their Chocolate Moist Cake and it was perfect!
Their buko pandan juice is also nice. Their chocolate crinkles are the best I've tasted so far. 😄
Binulo Restaurant
Binulo Restaurant
Located inside Clark Freeport, along Manuel Roxas Hwy, this restaurant is very easy to spot because of its big signage. I went here one Saturday noon with friends whom I have not met for a looongg time. We went wanted to eat something authentic in Pampanga and when we googled, Binulo Restaurant is one of THE places to go.
Parking is at the left side of the restaurant. From the outside, the white painted structure looked simple.
As we entered, there were good amount of customers already eating inside. The room looks a bit old. IMO, it needs a bit of restoration.
We were led by a friendly staff to our seats and suggested to try out their famous Pangat na Ulang and Binukadkad na Hipon, Lagat Pusu and Binulong Nasi.
I was surprised to see our waiter coming out of the kitchen carrying a bamboo stalk. This is where he poured out the shrimp and soup from, thus, Pangat na Ulang.

Binulong Nasi. Rice cooked in bamboo stalk. Tastes like suman |
The food are tasty, I like them! Pangat na Ulang presentation is interesting. Binukangkang is crispy. We ate it to the bones. I like the just-right sourness of the vinegar in Lagat Pusu.
That's it for now for my Pampanga food trip. This list will be updated as I continue to visit and try out other restaurants in the future.
